Dr. Jason Smithberger

Dr. Jason Smithberger is a dedicated dentist with a passion for the integrity of your dental health. With more than 20 years of experience, he has developed extensive training across all phases of TMJ care. He graduated Cum Laude from The Ohio State University and has continued to pursue advanced education throughout his career.

Dr. Smithberger studied with the Piper TMJ Center beginning in 2007 and previously participated in the Chicago Study Club with Dr. Jim McKee, where elite clinicians gathered to review MRIs and discuss joint conditions. He has also completed advanced training through the Tufts University Orofacial Pain Continuum and the Nierman Center.

An accredited Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine, Dr. Smithberger is also a member of the American Association of Craniofacial Pain, the American Equilibration Society, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine. He has also studied at The Dawson Center and was previously a faculty member with the Spear Education Institute.

Outside of dentistry, Dr. Smithberger enjoys spending time with his wife of 24 years and their five children. When he can, he also loves to get out on the golf course.

Dr. Robert Grill

Practice Focused on TMJ Facial Pain

Has been in practice in the Baltimore metropolitan area since 1983. Dr. Grill opened TMJ Facial Pain Center at its present location, across the street from St. Joseph’s Hospital in the Osler Medical Center on Osler Drive in Towson, Maryland, in 2008. Dr. Grill limits his practice to the diagnosis of Orofacial Pain and Sleep Apnea through extensive knowledge in the fields of Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) damage/disease, dental sleep medicine, and complex restorative dentistry.

Dr. Grill takes a comprehensive, evidence-based approach to the diagnosis and management of his patients, providing individualized and compassionate care. Since 2014, Dr. Grill has been Adjunct Faculty for the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, Department of Otolaryngology, Department of Dentistry, teaching orofacial pain diagnosis and management and dental sleep medicine in the dental residency program.

Dr. Grill is a graduate of the University of Maryland School of Dentistry and received advanced training at the Mahan Facial Pain Center at the University of Florida, LSU Orofacial Pain, the Pankey Institute, the Piper Clinic, and the Dawson Center. Dr. Grill is a member of the American Dental Association, American Equilibration Society, American Association of Orofacial Pain, and the American Association of Dental Sleep Medicine.

Dr. Grill was recognized as one of America’s Top Dentists in 2022 and 2023 from the Consumer’s Research Council of America and one of the “Top Local Dentists” in Baltimore Magazine in 2011.

Dr. Grill has been awarded a membership plaque by the International College of Dentists (ICD) in 2022 in recognition of outstanding professional achievement, meritorious service and the continued progress in the profession of dentistry for the benefit of all of humankind.

Monique has been with TMJ Facial Pain Center since November 2012. She has a compassionate listening ear. She has 10-plus years’ experience with dental and medical insurance claims/reimbursement so that our patients get the most out of their treatment here. In her spare time, she enjoys party planning, traveling/date nights with her husband, spending time with her three adult children and her two beautiful granddaughters, Jayce and Myanah.

Peyton

Clinical Assistant

Peyton joined TMJ Facial Pain Center in November of 2020. She enjoys greeting the patients and making them feel as comfortable as possible during their visits. In her spare time, she loves to do makeup, workout, and spend time with her family and friends.
